The schools are just under two miles apart.
So, it is a natural rivalry when St. John Vianney High School, which is located in Holmdel, and Matawan Regional High School, which is located in Aberdeen, meet in girls soccer.
The only scheduled game between the Class B North division rivals this season finished in a 3-3 double overtime draw between the Lancers and the Huskies on Wednesday afternoon in Aberdeen.
St. John Vianney jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Matawan eventually rallied and took a 3-2 lead. However, St. John Vianney eventually rallied and tied game at 3-3, which forced the game to go into overtime and subsequently double overtime.
